Birthday Party Games

Birthday party games are a fun way to create a festive atmosphere at parties so keep kids smiling and entertained by adding a few games.

"Who am I?" game is a great start for your kids birthday party

Kids love guessing games and there's no better way to get the kids party started than a game of "Who Am I?" fun! Children will enjoy mingling at the party and trying to figure out what animal is on their back.

Preparation: Cut out from magazines pictures of different animals. Make sure that you have enough for each child.

As kids arrive tape each animal picture on their back. Instruct children not to tell each other who they are. When all kids arrived, sit in a circle and go around one at a time and allow each child to ask one question. The answer to all the questions have to be yes or no. Continue around the circle, until someone discovers who she or he is. The player who guesses their animal wins.

Kids at your party will have fun with "Pin The Tail On The Donkey" game

The classic favorite kids Birthday Party game! Players try to pin the tail on the donkey - blindfolded! You can modify it - "Pin The Nose On The Clown",  "Pin the butterfly on the flower", "Pin the heart on the tin man", etc. Let your imagination go.

"Balloon stomp" game will get your party going wild!

Your party will not be boring with this game. Blow up a lot of balloons and tie a rubber band to each of them. Put a balloon around each kid's ankle by stretching the rubber band over their foot. If you want you can put a balloon on each ankle. Make sure kids wear shoes to protect their feet. Play some music and have children stomp around, trying to step on and pop other kids balloons. Whoever has the last balloon left around their ankle is the winner!

"Hot potatoes" - kids at your party will love this game

This game is one of the old time kids party favorite. Kids form a circle. A ball or a bean bag is passed from player to player while music is played or one player sings, or whistles or claps. When the music or clapping stops, the kid who has the bean bag is out and sits in the center. The last one out wins. Stops should be made frequently so the game moves quickly and kids will not be out for a long period.

"Limbo" - is enjoyed by all ages young kids and teenagers alike

"How low can you go?"- Always fun for kids parties of all ages! Set up a bar that can be raised or lowered, or have two people hold the bar. Play some music in the background and have everyone take a turn going under the bar. Kids must go under the bar facing forward and leaning back! It is not that easy. The kid who can go the lowest is the winner! Your party will be a lot of fun!

Do not forget this classic party game "Musical chairs"

Everyone hates to be the one left with "standing room only".  Just set up a line of chairs, one short from the number of kids and start the music. Kids walk around the chairs and sit down once the music stops.  Whoever is left standing has to drop out. Take away one chair so you are short one and start the music again. This continues until only one child has a chair.  They are the winner! Great for any kids party!

 Kids Birthday Party Planning Basics:

If possible, begin planning your kids birthday party 4-5 weeks in advance. Allow plenty of time for on-line shopping, cake orders and enlisting any friends or family you may want to help.

Pick a party theme. Whether it's a fancy theme, or something easier, like your child's favorite color, selecting a theme will help you organize your thoughts. Then plan all of your party supply purchases, party games and party decorations around that theme.

Children remember what they did at a party, much more than what they ate, what the plates and napkins  looked like or whether the house was spotless. Don't sweat the little details!

 The best party times are......1:00 - 3:00 or 2:00 - 4:00
You won't need to serve a meal but a few finger foods are advised
For little kids try 10:00am -11:30 to work around nap time.

Party Favors: In choosing party favors, it's better to spend more creativity than money.
Give a wonderful thank you item/items that reflects the party theme; a flower pot and seeds for a garden party, modeling clay for an art party. You can even send the kids home with a treasure they've made during the party. The birthday child should hand out the favors. This will remind her to say "thank you".
